I may have jumped the gun a bit there. Maybe hoping for the equivalent of death in cyberspace was a bit too mean. I know from personal experience what it feels like to almost lose a years worth of work (hard drive failure). I am just thankful for all those adminstrative floppy and liveCD linux distributions.

But these types of incidents have become very frustrating!!! I mean this whole virus is TOTALLY dependent on an uneducated user. It became the worst worm ever. How can the userbase be so bad that it beat past worms that used real software vulnerabilities (actually I still don't believe this... its just too hard to)?

The worst part is, these users don't seem to care to learn. The numbers show that nothing so far has perked their interest. And they are costing millions of dollars for others because they wanted to use a comp w/o learning how to. Well, the only option seems to get personal with them. Affect them personally enough to get them to open their eyes. Wait... there I go again... ...

You know that I REALLY hope for? I hope the second one cleans out the worm, the smtp, and closes the ports. Ya know, now that I think about it... the anti-virus companies should do this for every virus. Use the virus's attack vector to create another virus that cures the infected PC's. Its seems to be the only sure way to get rid on the extra traffic and infections out on the net. Its perfect... the cure will have no effect on the responsible user, and will help keep the uneducated clean. Ofcourse money needs to be involved, so the major corporations should donate or the gov. Company A says I will give you X amount for creating a vaccine (perfect anology) for whatever is beating up our systems.
