What?!? Take a paying customer offline?!?
If they didn't have a provision in their TOS agreement about this, then they could be sued for dumping a customer offline for this reason. While more and more ISP's are adding such provisions, not all of them have it and they can't just kill a customer's connection because an infected system is detected.

I do agree that a good ISP should cut off infected systems and be proactive in blocking things like virus related ports, spam, and other nasties floating around the Internet. However, not all of them do. My experience is that cable providers are better at this than DSL providers but I'm sure it varies a lot.
