Priorities
There's nothing wrong if MS Office finally has an open standard. The push was for open format documents, not non-MS documents or open source editors. It's like how the government can't promote one religion over another. It can't push one company's product over another. If they use MS Office on their entire network, but the average Joe can open the same document the same way using something FREE that isn't MS Office (without having to reverse-engineer the format), the goal has been accomplished. Believe me, I hate MS Office, too. But, this is a step in the right direction.
