IE is De Facto
We've been hearing lots of talk about alternative browsers and security. For those of us who work in the IT field (17 years here), the consideration of security is very real. Reality bites, however. IE is include AND required to be on every Windows desktop if you want to use any Microsoft features, including the Microsoft Update. Further, if you use group policies to govern Internet use at the office, IE is the only browser that will adhere to that policy. Lastly, we are the mercy of the browsing community, the vast majority of which are IE users by default. These folks (such as my wife) are too accustomed to the IE look and feel, and any changes tend to distort their experience and make our lives more difficult. Microsoft has this in the bag, folks. There is no chance of any other browser supplanting IE in the near (or even distant) future.
