Is there an OS API better or more completely _documented_ than the Windows API? Is there a company that spends more money and resources on documenting and publicizing their APIs than Mcirosoft?

It seems to me that the volume of public information out there from MSDN and all the 3rd party books out there available for programming against Windows and it's various services just about dwarfs almost any other OS!

Okay, Windows is not open source, but If I'm a developer, I'd rather deal with having a vast library of documentation rather than having to reverse engineer code.

It seems strange to me to penalize the most documented OS for not having perfectly readable documentation when a lot of others will just say you can go ahead and reverse engineer their code!

I bet Microsoft spends more money on documentating and publishing their APIs than anyone else by a long shot.

Of course, I don't have facts or figures.. If you do, please feel free to dispute, but this ruling seems strange given my perception.
