Charitable Wrong Doing
Mike,

Your post is a cry for elaboration. First lets note that Bush has educated the US population that charities are how terrorists get funded. They are also how the criminally minded polititions like DeLay can legally be compensated when there are laws preventing direct payment for the time spent listening to a lobiest for Microsoft or any other company run by the criminally minded.

For example, it is illegal for DeLay to accept payment in the form of a ticket on an airplane or to an event when he has his government employee hat on.

But, as an official of a charity he started, he can accept all of that and does under the possibility that his main purpose for doing so is to establish relationships for charitable giving to his foundation.

Legal can also be wrong doing. Charity is unfortunately a code word now for that wrong doing. One of these days, polititions will be prohibited from charitable activities while in office. In the mean time, give to organizations that you know are not politially connected - like the American Red Cross. Wow was Bush PO'd at them - even tried to swift boat the retiring president. There are honerable charities and polititions. Maria Cantwell has now an army of wrong doers on her for ANWAR preservation. But the Microsoft Way of punishing those who disagree is fast becoming the wrong way in US government as well as in the post Enron, WorldCom, Quest, Arthur Andersen corporate america.
