Absentee ballots work great
In a close election absentee ballots might tip the scales for a candidate in a some congressional districts but would not make much difference otherwise. Absentee ballots are 100% secure but appear to be more trustworthy than internet voting for the foreseeable future. My state also allows early voting, i.e. you can vote a week prior to the election at the county courthouse and a few other selected locations. I think it is good that the Pentagon took the action they did, we have enough problems with elections without adding crappy software, internet hacks and other mischief. All voting systems need a way to verify, if it a pc or machine, then we need a way to verify that the machine or pc is counting correctly. No black boxes, no mysteries!
