Quicktime has the best quality and easiest setup for a streaming server.
Real has the best compression and platform availability.
Media player is pigeonholed to 2 desktops and 1 server platform, very restrictive licensing, streaming is horrible on buffering (still), AND setting up a streaming server is easier with 3rd party tools than the manufacturer's own.
