My prediction is this.
As off shoring happens the market of IT workers will grow. The increase in supply of workers will mean that wages will drop. Now options that were impossible for a small to medium size business are possible. In house developement will beging to occur making use of existing open source code to make customized in house applications. Now the off shoring corps offering proprietary software will come back to realize they can't sell it anymore, at least not for the price they once did. So they drop prices to compete and now any advantage to off shoring is gone and the costs start piling up in terms of overhead on the off shore operation. Now profits drop big time and the big corps who thought they could save a buck are stuck with money pit producing nothing.

Now if my prediction occurs the stock market will crash again for these corporation or at least they should. But they won't. Manipulation of the books will occur first to make offshoring look like really was a good idea. Those retired CEO living the high life off investments in the corporation won't want to see this disappear. In the end it will Enron after Enron after Enron.
