You're a wee bit off
I really don't thing that most Americans complain about any
trade policies with developed democracies like Europe
Australia, and even Japan. Since they all pay workers fairly,
they're on a pretty even keel with the US.

The complaint is against shipping jobs to places like India,
China, and other "developing" countries where wages can be
1/1000 that of developed countries. It's impossible to
"compete" with that.

One of the sad facts is that, here in the US, you can look at
products under well known European brands like Phillips or
Bosch and see "made in China" rather than "made in
Germany" or "made in Netherlands".
