Right on the H1B, wrong on the L1
The L1 is for intra-company transfers, not to bring shortage skills into the US. It was intended for large companies to bring executive level/professional level employees from foreign offices into the US. It was not intended to let a bunch of Indian companies set up shop in the US and bring in a bunch of "mostly" inept, neophyte programmers in to displace US citizens. It certainly was not intended to allow them to set up consulting companies and use these unpaid scabs as slave labor. They need to be sent home, immediately. The H1B needs to be terminated and a time table established to get these people back to their mother countries. I know for a fact that one company in Detroit pays $32.50, $38.00 and $48.50 an hour to the consulting companies for their consultants (all Indian). If the company is only getting $32.50 and hour, they are not paying the L1 visa holders anywhere near pervailing wage.
