You forgot to mention
the drop in share value. I remember 2 or 3 years ago arguing with someone on this forum that the share price would drop below $50 soon. Today they are around $28 which means a lot of people have lost a lot of money on MS over the last 5 years. You never know with markets but my gut feeling on them is they will stay between $20 and $40 over the next 5 years. I think Linux will eat away at them like a cancer and keep their value down. Europe and Asia are a big problem for them because they can't play the same games there that they do here. Those two areas also have political reasons for pulling away from MS not just technical ones.
