FUD?

Fear--Uncertainty--Doubt, unless the sources I read are inaccurate. As I read Daniel_Walker's post, he is trying to make a point, based on economic analysis and the factors he considers relevant, that a lot of people have a vested interest in the status quo. It is clear that you disagree with the numbers. Well, matter of fact so would I.

Let's try a hypothetical case. Suppose I had $35 billion and could obtain 100% of Microsoft for that amount. Would I do it? Of course - I retain my $35 billion, plus real estate and other fixed assets and income from continuing operations. Yep, no brainer.

But now, how about buying a share at the current price? Would I see an acceptable return on the basis of current price/dividends? Not likely. I would have to hope to sell it at a higher price to someone who hopes to sell it at a higher price to someone who... Follow the chain? Personally, I opt out, but there are others who consider this a fair price, because that is where the market has the stock.

Okay, you disagree with Daniel_Walker's position. But how did his post inspire fear in you? Curious.
