Lets see... Some of the users are behind corporate firewalls and, although I don't have access to your statistical database, these must account for some percent of total users. And most of these, being used for business, would search only the corporate databases, using the built-in criteria supplied in the systems.

Then there's a few users in the emerging Asian markets, where the governments are cooperating in developing the next generation OS. Maybe the introduction and deployment will kick in after the time frame you've chosen; it's hard to be sure. I would, however, hazard a guess that their OS acquisitions would be to systems that more closely match the specs of their projected system.

We could add those that are fatigued by the vulnerabilities that result from integrating clearly separate applications in the operating system (aren't you just delighted with that integrated IE?). And believe it or not, there actually are PC users that don't drool over searching.

Are you positive that these exceptions total fewer than 10% of the user population? "Popular" is one thing, but "overwhelming" might be a bit of a stretch.
