Move to Windows when it has the same look and feel as Linux

but, I know that will never happen. My KDE desktop would have to drop back a couple of version in order to match down to XP's capabilities.

I've been running Linux for EIGHT years, the last four connected nearly fulltime to a broadband connection, and I have yet to see a Linux virus, even though ZDNet constantly repeat claims that there are hundres of them around. The only ones you read about are "found' on only two or three PCs, and most of those boxes appear to be in anti-virus software laboratories.

I write software for a government agency using C++ and GPL tools. I use subversion/RapidSVN for version control. I document using OOo 2.0 EXCLUSIVELY and my MS Office using friends can't tell the difference when they open the PDFs I create.

Most Office/OOo users don't care about macros. If they are running OOo then all they'll expect is that OOo runs its own macros correctly, which it does. Microsoft is not a team player so users never expect Office to load ODT documents and other OOo file formats, but OOo IS a team player and OOo does an excellent job of working with Office formats even though Microsoft is contatntly tweaking them to 1) reduce compatibility with OOo and 2) generate more license revenue from Office users.
