IBM has been fully supporting various integrations with MS Office from the start. As a Domino/NOTES shop we utilize MS Office in all it's different flavours. When we are confronted with challenges it's MS's not IBM's products that give us the headaches (patches, fixes, unstability, insecure, etc.).

We have been using Workplace in our testing environment this year and plan to put it into production in the new year. Absolutely fabulous, we are certainly impressed. NO problems overall in integrating MS Office stuff but we are also testing Open Office 2.0 for production in the new year.

Why? Because like many before us, locking into the .doc format has caused us grief on many planes. And since we are adopting more and more Open Standards and Open Source hegemony, MS is not a preferred vendor since as a company it insists on maintaining it's proprietary formats. We can't be "cornered" by a single vendor especially when it comes to future directions. Also, MS is insisting on it's new business model of software as a service and we're having none of it.

MS's roadmap for the future is fraught with serious issues that we as a company need to address today. Hence, adopting more Open Source/Open Standards. Regardless of the vendor, IBM is on the right track.
