Microsoft to standardize Office formats

Um...

This is a fairly important step by Microsoft towards the open-source community, a community which, like it or not, they will have to join in order to stay afloat.

Making that XML format a standard will make people implement it, and it will eliminate any cross-platform confusion. The world needs more standards, this move receives wild praise from me.

But that's okay, it's Microsoft. They must clearly just want to kill your babies to do evil corporate things just....because.
