- We will see what happens when we get to the fine print about intelectual

property. Microsoft will have to swallow really hard before they release it as a standard that can be read and written using whatever open source license. They would swallow even harder before they committed to anything that would let competitors (open source and proprietary) use any and all extensions they might make. That is still a lingering problem with the .net standard, Microsoft is free to add extensions that are proprietary.
