Correction: ONLY big businesses want the change. The average Joe doesn't want to be pulling out his checkbook every month.

OK, some of the bigger software businesses such as Microsoft may switch to the subscription model - but I think many software vendors are going to stay with the traditional model for some time to come.

BUT I think there's a big chance for vaporware here: After all, Microsoft has been dreaming of software as a service for quite some time.
