Just migrated another to linux
I just migrated another friend to Linux this weekend to Fedora. ( don't jump on me to yell which distro is better, I wanted to try it out).
After dropping by all the time to fix Windows 98, reinstalling Windows 3 times in 3 months (that's a clean install, after having the hardware checked AGAIN), and not wanting to upgrade to Win XP, it was time to move on.

-Installed EASILY, AUTOMATICALLY found every single piece of hardware, even installed the 9 year old laser printer, with 3 clicks.
-Hooked up to the DSL modem automatically (I'm no super linux genius so I'm still trying to figure that one out, maybe had something to do with the connected win machine- if you know let me know, 'cause I'm still wondering).
-Installed a boat load of software (that's free, easy to use, no extraneous unneeded options, perfectly useful software)
-And best of all, I won't have to drop by anymore to fix it.

So where's the problem with Linux, I use it, friends use it.... hmmmmmm I think my dad is next...


To tell the truth though, I would have rather installed Mac OS X (when is there going to be a port), and I still use Win XP at work and Win 98 at home, so I'm not entirely against Windows, just some of the time. But those who say it's not viable option have obviously not tried it. Once it's installed, there is pretty much no maintaince.
