Ringtones are free, no need for middlemen
My Nokia will play just about any WAV or MID file I send to it from my PC. It takes me five minutes to clip any music or phrase I like, transmute it from MP3 to WAV, and download it. I am not constrained by any website's "hot picks" or noisy crap, and it's all FREE.

Once again, the music (and telecom) industry is just leveraging a new way to scam people who can't or won't learn to use the technology they carry around in their own pockets.
