"Windows is sub-standard and they eminently agree and want to improve in that area. Unix/Linux is the primary choice for a reason.."

I seriously doubt MS would say their Server OS is sub-standard, (customers tend to get nervous when they hear that) so wher that came from I can not even begin to guess. And Linux is "the Server software of chioce"?

It would seem alot of companies are dropping their Unix for Windows or Linux, and both Windows and Linux (and some other OS's) are taking market share from Unix. but both Windows and Linux server sales continue to grow, so I can not imagine where THAT statement came from either
