Then who's making all the money on that OEM install of Windows? It sure a lot more than $2 when I buy a PC. Sure it's cheaper than buying retail but not that cheap. I've heard rumor that big OEMs get Windows to install for about $80ca. Getting a OEM edition when building your own PC cost about $135ca and retail is $199ca.

So with XP out for almost 5 years then I'm sure Microsoft must have broken even on developement by now and the rest is pure profit. Maybe they haven't and dividing the development cost amoung all copies sold is equally $2 profit. Still if that's all they are making kind of make you wonder why they are in this business. Vista could be a killer for them.
