Axe can't respond because he doesn't understand...

MS still sells the previous version of software for a while after it releases the new version. So forced upgrades are less of an issue. If anything, it highlights why planning is a good idea.

x86 servers, at least Operton based, that are 64 bit compatible have been out for a while now. Anyone should know that 64bit is just a matter of time and should've been purchasing 64bit capable servers if the idea was to use the server with any of MS's future builds of Server, SQL, or Exchange. I know I did.

I get your point about the ease of porting or re-compiling software for nix platforms. But what if the application that a company is using doesn't run on nix? Or isn't availabe as source code? For some things, there is no viable open source alternative.
