Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
People always criticize Apple for being too proprietary, and
claim that's what cost them their lead in the personal
computer market. Now you're saying that Sun made a
mistake in opening up Java so everyone could use it,
making themselves just another competitor instead of
maintaining control of the platform.

So which is it? If keeping control is bad and giving it up is
bad, what are you supposed to do?
