Well, guess what, Microsoft is racing against time to
introduce proprietary apis and protocols for web applications that will result in another round of lock-in and high prices. Microsoft is also fighting a political battle against open document formats, and throwing everything but the kitchen sink into MS Office in order to thwart the standars process for office documents.

So, like it or not, if we don't fight, we will be stuck using proprietary apis, protocols, file formats, and paying high prices for les inovation.

You can just stand by and be the nice guy if you want while Microsft quietly locks us in to yet another platform. The rest of us will be more active.

Call it what you want, but Microsoft is spending billions to get you  DonnieBoy | 11/10/05
It's simple  Real World | 11/10/05
But you have to point out exactly how Microsoft is screwing us, otherwise,  DonnieBoy | 11/10/05
But that's not what you're doing  Real World | 11/10/05
We are just talking about what Microsoft is doing, if you have an argument,  DonnieBoy | 11/10/05
Thanks Mr. Thought Police  Real World | 11/10/05
Why don't you just try arguing your point, if you have one.  DonnieBoy | 11/10/05
Hooked on Phonics didn't work for you, eh?  Real World | 11/10/05
Yes, sometimes people want to call the facts "negative" when they don't  DonnieBoy | 11/11/05
I quote my original post, nothing negative, just issues.  DonnieBoy | 11/11/05
Well said  IT_User | 11/10/05
The message to you: Chill, we are only discussing the issues.  DonnieBoy | 11/10/05
Let's be 100% clear  Real World | 11/10/05
Give it a break, we are just discussing the issues.  DonnieBoy | 11/10/05

Sorry, I don't see it that way  Real World | 11/10/05
We are not just talking about things that are illegal.  DonnieBoy | 11/10/05
Breaking news, it's difficult to unseat the incumbent  Real World | 11/10/05
It may be difficult to unseat an incumbent....not impossible  Laff | 11/10/05

The market is not free.  mosborne | 11/10/05
Is Apple a major vendor?  Real World | 11/10/05
mjb: So are you saying that a monopoly has no effect on choice??  DonnieBoy | 11/10/05
Give it up, Skippy.  Real World | 11/10/05
Again, you have NO argument, and I seriously doubt you use Linux.  DonnieBoy | 11/11/05
Your constant ranting makes no sense!!!  No_Ax_to_Grind | 11/10/05
Yes, the MS line, Monopolies do NOT affect choice in ANY way!!  DonnieBoy | 11/10/05
Donnieboy, we are going to get you a deprogrammer.  osreinstall | 11/10/05
Now you are trying to say Open Document is not open????  DonnieBoy | 11/11/05
It doesn't matter if the document is open, just accessable.  osreinstall | 11/11/05
They want more than just "accessable" they do not want one company,  DonnieBoy | 11/11/05
You don't get it.  osreinstall | 11/11/05
Customers want compatibility. Customers want standards.  DonnieBoy | 11/11/05
Open source wants standards. Customers want results.  osreinstall | 11/11/05
And the result sustomers want: interoperability, quality and low price.  DonnieBoy | 11/11/05
Nope, Just results and the problem solved.  osreinstall | 11/11/05
Notice that Microsoft wants to boil this down to customer choice.  DonnieBoy | 11/10/05
Gee, don't you believe in customer choice.  osreinstall | 11/11/05
Again, slooowly for the slow ones. Lock-in reduces choices.  DonnieBoy | 11/11/05
Very s l o o o o o w l y for Donnie the Troskyite.  osreinstall | 11/11/05
You will fnd few customers happy about high prices and low quality.  DonnieBoy | 11/11/05
MS's prices and quality are reasonable.  osreinstall | 11/11/05
If that was true, why is Microsoft afraid to compete on the merits??  DonnieBoy | 11/11/05
MS isn't afraid. You are.  osreinstall | 11/11/05
They should care if the "open" part of it  Boot_Agnostic | 11/12/05
