That doesn't only apply to the internet
I know a couple people who donate money by regular mail solicitation and vocally support their candidate, but do not bother to go to the primaries.

In the end though, the internet is simply a cheap tool to get your message across. If that message isn't strong enough to generate votes, then the internet won't save you.

In fact, because (at least I think) Dean is kind of a jerk, all this popularity could hurt him more than it can help him.
