- The Circle Finally Turns Around
-
I worked for IBM in the mid '80's.
It was just as OS/2 was announced (shiver) that I told my Branch
Manager that I thought the future was UNIX/workstation related.
Sun Systems was just gaining a bit of national press as an up
and coming company.
My Branch Manager laughed in my face. "Don't you know that
the future is Mainframe to Midrange to either dumb terminals or
PCs with 3270 or 5250 pass thru?" The specific technology he
mentioned is NOT part of the future.
But he WAS being a bit prophetic. I give you Windows Live and
everything else that puts services on the servers in the sky
rather than applications on the local desktop machine. - Posted by: vinzani@... Posted on: 11/18/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
