The Real World
Those who believe Linux will crush Microsoft or the reverse are living in a dream world. Linux will come to power on the desktop along side with Microsoft. Microsoft will still be there while they will watch there market share shrink to realistic level in a competitive world.

Common sense dictates this. The desktop is commodity. It's reached it's plateau. Where can you go with the desktop tomorow that you can't today? No where and that's why Linux is gaining ground. It's also why Microsoft is always looking into the new things. You can say they don't innovate all you want but they do investigate and build on others ideas and have found way to make the other guys idea better. Now it's only a matter of time before the desktop Linux reaches that point of being just as good if not better than Windows. Long horn isn't going to bring us anything new on the desktop that Linux can't do. It's just simple common sense. In the future it will be why pay for desktop OS when it's free. This just makes sense. When a Desktop PC can be bought for $300 why pay $300 to upgrade to the latest Microsoft OS? Like the look and feel of XP then load XPDE for Linux.
