Misconceptions?
You can't lower the price below zero. Microsoft costs more to operate - a lot more. The longer the baseline, the greater the advantage. It is not the initial license cost that dominates. MS would like to have us ignore the ongoing labor costs, but in the real world this is something we have to pay for.

It's hard to tell where more money is being spent, but bear in mind that the Linux developers are much bigger and have much greater revenue than the Windows developer - also, it's their products the software is running on.

I don't say Microsoft isn't capable of turning out great product. And if they will turn their attention to the developers, rather than the lawyers and salespeople, trying to make products incompatible and embed things like a browser and media player the operating syste, they can be real contributors to the industry. I'll certainly join in the toasting.
