Speaking of denials
Spin it any way you want to, but this failure in Novell's business model is, by extension, egg on the face of Linux and the OpenSource community. Novell brought a big business, cash-driven profit-orientated mentality to the F/OSS movement, and proceeded to cough up the ball (well, at least they never got into the red zone).

Bottom line, they treated SuSe like Microsoft treats Windows, and look what happened. Conclusion: You can't expect the same business model to be effective for an open-source product and a corresponding proprietary one.

But this shouldn't come as a galloping shock to anyone. Novell has been little more than an animated corpse for quite some time.
