You forget the Xen is open source, and Red Hat can't control it.
Red Hat will not offer a forked version of Xen, they will contribute directly. You forget that IBM, Sun, Novel, and other are firmly behind this, Red Hat is just trying to accelerate it. In the long run, the community still has to approve.

And, no marketing ploy. They must offer the best service, or customers will jump ship in a flash.
