The advantage of Red Hat is that it is Unix based, and you just pay the support license for each computer and stop thinking about licenses. Run as many web servers, databases, application servers, etc, as makes sense for you.

Oh, you can support it yourself?? Use WhiteBox Linux:

With Microsoft, you will have to spend half your time figuring how to do what you need to do without spending a fortune on licenses.

Oh, you can support Windows yourself?? Toooo bad, you pay full price too.
