Sun needs to figure out how to exit the OS business, FAST
They need to put the Solaris resourses into designing new processors and servers, and put programmers on Linux to make sure it runs the best on all of their hardware. It would also be a good to port as much of Solaris as makes sense to Linux to ease customer transitions.

That said, Solaris will still be king for a couple of more years.
