Has this company lost its collective mind?
Reading through this analysis, I can't help but wonder there's a lot of confused thinking over at Redmond.

Statements like: "For enterprises, I think we've just barely scratched the surface about which systems can...be brought into the cloud in some way, shape or form," Ozzie said...seem horribly muddled.

"Our services have started out as very inexpensive but not feature-rich," Gates said. "Our servers are very feature-rich. So as we bring these things together, we give you the richness and also the choice of having it as server or as a service." Waht planet is this man on? It isn't about server or service, it's about meeting today's business needs with tools that work and allow business to interconnect in meaningful ways. Nothing in that statement adds to the requirement or clarifies it in any way.

Scoble is banging on about his Laundry List. He seems to be saying: "We've got to learn from OSS, Web 2.0 (whatever that is) etc." But it's the wrong question for a company that has been used to a licensing model NOT built on service provision.

It just doesn't make sense.
