Microsoft will prevail...
The Google model is doomed to fail. The only way to succeed and make money is to give people awesome upgrades at high prices. My CFO cringes here every time I submit an invoice but I go right up there and slap him upside the head and say "Whaddya, stupid or something? Without Office 12 how do you expect to stay in business?". I then trot in my rep and a few of my top-Top-TOP MCSDs who then show him the latest Office 12 features they built to tie together Exchange 12, Biztalk 2006, SQL Server 2005, and Windows Longhorn Server. He then rolls his eyes in obvious recognition that I have once again led the right fight at the right time. I have won the battle and the war and my rep is the field general calling the shots. Given this productivity, how can Google survive?
