AJAX Adventure Games
Slightly off topic to Google, but maybe thats not such a bad thing, since playing follow-my-google-leader on services is pointless.

"Historically, most of Microsoft's services have come from its MSN unit, which has been largely consumer-focused. But Microsoft sees a clear opportunity to offer online tools to businesses as well."

Microsoft made an adventure/puzzle game using claymation (can't remember the name sorry). I never got to play it, it wasn't distributed particularly well.

I think that the Adventure games genre is perfect for the internet. A proper website, rather than .NET or Active X a proper Adventure game rather than a MUD or online combat game.

Imagine something major like Monkey Island 3 completely in AJAX, with the game state & engine stored on the server so that piracy isn't a problem.

Microsoft made a claymation game and that could become an online adventure game in its own right.
Presumably all the animation is already there, the logic engine is already written, it only needs to be converted to be online.

The full detailed argument for why I think Adventure Games would be viable as online games is here:
