Restrictions on the damage

OSS will not replace all software. Some software is completely internal - like what I write for my current company. And some companies will pay for people to add to OSS to fit their needs.

Adapting software for use at a specific company would happen whether the company had proprietary or open source software, no?
So you're just putting a limit on Mr. Stallman's dream, not rejecting its basic premise.

That premise is: software largely or entirely produced by unpaid people is more desirable than equivalent software by people who are paid for their labor.

The reason that open source software exists is because a number of people agree and are willing to volunteer their time to create open source alternatives. Never mind freedom for now; the ability to look at a page of code is not relevant to the economics.

Agree with the premise, and you have to consider the people who lose jobs and salaries.
Disagree, and you are no longer an open source supporter.
You do have to take one side or the other.
