Do not lump Stallman in with the rest of us Open Source supporters. Stallman is a loon, IMHO.

If the other programs were doing it well, there would be no need for OSS. OSS software is written by and for people that want more freedom. Maybe part of that freedom is from costs. I don't know.

OSS will not replace all software. Some software is completely internal - like what I write for my current company. And some companies will pay for people to add to OSS to fit their needs.

All of this is just speculation. There is no way to know what will happen. I think that software jobs will go away but not completely. This happens in every industry.
