Nothing to do with Microsoft.....
This is something that the content prodivers setup, not Microsoft. The bits are there for EVERY recording technology, not just Windows Media Center.

Since this is an honor system type of protection, I doubt any content providers are going to worry about it, since the bits can be ignored.

But to the larger this has NOTHING TO DO WITH MICROSOFT. It all about rights managemet from the content providers.
