OK, Microsoft relented (for now)
OK, I did some searching and found an AnchorDesk article (http://reviews-zdnet.com.com/4520-6033_16-4207643.html) that indicates that MS relented (at least until the entertainment companies get wise) and now allow recording to be non-encrypted, IFF two bits in the CGMS-A stream are not set. How long do you think it will be before the broadcasters start to set these bits? At least this only appears to affect recorded TV shows.
