Correction: YOU CAN SHARE DVDS!!!!
An earlier post stated that you cannot use DVD's from record Media Center show with other devices. That statement is incorrect.

There is a security feature that Media Center supports that does prevent the duplication of shows onto DVD or VCD. I however, have yet to see such content.

I can record Media Center shows just fine and play them on a stand alone DVD player. You do have to aquire third party software to record to DVD however. It's not built in.

I've got a Toshiba P25-607 Media Center 2004 laptop that I have had for three months. I've had some issue with DVD record and playback through Media Center that I'm close to getting fixed, so it does have some rough spots still.

However, the TiVo like time shifting and recording features have worked flawlessly. This is definiately a very nice and overall stable system. It make take a little tweaking to get out of it what you want, but once its setup, you'll never record to VHS again.
