The old mainframers have gotta be loving this one! A "retreat from objects" would seem to confirm that they've been doing it (somewhat) right all along, while the "leaders" have been off on tangents.

Nonetheless, it should be pointed out that the article is somewhat poorly written in the sense that it doesn't clearly enough make the distinction between objects and "distributed objects". Object-oriented design and development isn't going anywhere. It has just arrived.
