I personally have no problem with any kind of license, "open" or otherwise. I also have no problem with the use of the word "open" in relation to software, as it means precisely what it says. My concern is with people who twist the meaning of words to suit their purposes. The GPL is a license, and as such has encumbrances. Using the word "free" to refer to software that is encumbered n any way is misleading. A mistake many here are making is in thinking No_Ax's "encumbered" refers to "open".

What really gets me are people like RMS who profess to want complete freedom for everyone, but then put limits on that feedom and have no hesitation about using the courts to enforce their views. When you have to threaten people to get them to do the right thing, something's wrong somewhere.
