Your post contains so many...
... wrong conclusions it is hard to know where to start.

"This is certainly ample evidence that the world of open source is having a huge influence on Microsoft."

Please explain! Microsoft has always shared parts of their code with the developer network.

"these moves from a position of weakness"

How So? By your own statements their profits and dominance are not being threatened. What is this perceived weakness? Kryptonite?

"They finally discovered the internet and are now fighting for their very life with Google and other internet powers."

They just now discovered the Internet? They are battling for their very life with Google? Oh how you do embellish!

Truth is this whole thing is about them simplifying the terms for something they have already been doing. We get new contract terms every year from Microsoft. It really is no big deal and nothing to the extreme that your post would suggest. Further more, it has absolutely nothing to do with Linux! So get over yourself.
