One thing that was obvious to me in reading this thread is that there are a coupla folks who know the subject but disagree violently. I sure don't want to get in the middle of that but I sure would be curious to hear their opinions on the Unidata / Universe database products sold by IBM. Their lineage goes back to DB by Richard Pick (Reigning data today?) and have quite a substantial install base. Anyone care to comment on how these product fit into this interesting discussion?
