Many years of experience has taught me to have very little trust in the data I get from datawarehouses.
If what you state are mainstream methods then I will revise this estimate of trust to zero.
Data warehouses are seldom exposed to the hard truths of delivering data to customers and in my experience seldom get audited.
I have worked on some big data warehouse projects but I stay away now, because it seems somewhat inadvisable to be in an area that is dependent for its continuing existence on the inadequacy of current technology. I have no wish to become a Luddite. Also the data warehouse people I have encountered seem like some of the most arrogant, opiniated and often startlingly ignorant group of people I have ever met in my twenty years plus experience in IT. I am well aware of how reporting directly to senior management can do strange things to your ego, but most of us have the maturity to get over that. Maybe you will too one day.
So far talking to you feels like talking to someone who has been appointed finance director without him understanding the basics of book keeping. - Posted by: jorwell Posted on: 10/21/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
