KDE is a far better

product than Gnome and yet Enlightenment blows them both away... Blackbox is fine too. But when it comes down to it, most newbs like and prefer KDE. They could give a rats hind quarters about the tool kits used to build them.

They care about ease of use, familiarity, form and function. Personally I use KDE. I prefer KDE and as I stated many others do as well.

Although I do agree a standard binary installer is needed there is also the need for a variety of applications. More than what we currently get as well. Things like Adobe Distiller, iTunes, native games (not via wine, contrary to popular myth not all games work via wine and many that do do not work well.) just to name a couple.

I don't care what tool set was used. KDE has a nice form, many features that Gnome doesn't have and it's more configurable in my opinion than Gnome.
