So because lots of other companies do the "copy-as-innovation" thing, that makes it intellectually "OK"? Good lord...

If you really believe that, I've got a whole crowd of mindless little lemmings here who're looking to walk off a cliff. Maybe you should join them.

As for the "not every Xbox customer does this" comment - you'd be surprised. When the X-Box first came out, a large number of initial sales were to "tinker" with it. Since that time, my friends and I've mod'ed and setup over 100 X-Boxes for people who were too afraid to do it themselves. And that's just one group, there're whole communities online that sprang up around this.

The point is - one of the biggest reasons to own an X-Box was to do something with it that surpassed MS's original design, and in a very good way at that. The fact that they're just now copy-catting this into their new system - after 3 whole years of watching - is pathetic.
