Training costs and the future of office suites?
Power users are a two edged blade: They're more productive becuase they know more functions and tricks of the programs they use, but they are also more inflexible in terms that they expect any plausible replacement programs to behave pretty much the same as they're used to... There are exceptions of users who simply say "Well, since I'm able to do 'a' in 'y' Office suite and I find this at 'p' spot, shouldn't I be able to find the same in 'b' Office suite?" And if OOo inherited anything from Star Office was placement of tools and preferences. While many controls do make more sense in OOo's layout... For a power user, who is so accostumed to find them at certain positions, that may not necesarily mean increased productivity, now does it?

In any case, I see your point regarding "upgrade or migrate", however there's still the optin of "staying" with whatever version of the program is owned... Like many users who are still using Office '97 or 2000, simply because putting out the money to buy a new version of Office which would suit their needs as well (for instance if they require a Pro version) is too costly for a great number of users.
